So here is just a text post.
I really liked this Carl Sagan quote I recently ran across. Could be applied to sports world too:

"The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what’s true. "
— Carl Sagan

I am paraphrasing, but reminds me a little of coach Bill Parcells quote along the lines of:
You are what your record (win/loss) says you are.
